Florists in the United States range from neighborhood flower shops with a walk-in cooler to studio designers who work only by appointment for weddings and events. Most retail florists build arrangements to order, deliver the same day when you call before early afternoon, and belong to a wire network (FTD, Teleflora or BloomNet) that passes out-of-town orders to a local shop. Ordering from the shop directly rather than through a national website usually means more flowers for the money, because no order-gatherer takes a cut. Flower markets and wholesalers sell loose stems and bunches, often early in the morning, and many now open to the public. Flower farms grow seasonal blooms such as dahlias, peonies and sunflowers and sell by the bucket, by subscription or as pick-your-own.

The BEST customer service I have ever received from a flower shop. I am beyond happy with the quality of care from Fifth Street Flower Shop. My order was placed over the phone. It is a delivery for the passing of a loved one and Kyle knew all of the information as soon as I stated a name. I will always reference this flower shop.

I visited this floral shop on a whim and they were able to accommodate me on the spot! I needed a just because floral arrangement and I got exactly that! It wasn't pre-made, I got to stand there and watch them make it. I was asked what colors would I like or was there anything in particular I wanted in the arrangement. I said no and I'm glad I did, it turned out perfect!! I live out of state but I now know who to call when I want to send just because flowers!!! The smile upon delivery was priceless!!! Thanks Ladies!!

My husband surprised me with "just because" flowers and the were GORGEOUS. Honestly, the prettiest flowers I have ever gotten -- bouquet of roses and lilies that were very high-quality flowers. They smelled amazing too. I received them at work and every single person who walked by my office complimented them and many walked in for a closer look and to smell them up close. They are almost a week old and the lilies are still continuing to bloom. If I ever need to order flowers, I will definitely place the order through the Fifth Street Flower Shop. They totally made my week!

Apparently, these people have so much business that they can afford to turn it away. I was trying to set up something special for my MIL's last week at work before retiring. I wanted deliveries every day for a week, increasing in value each day, with a really big arrangement on the last day. The lady I spoke with couldn't authorize a waiver from their $35 minimum (I wanted to start at $20, increasing by $20 each day), and told me I'd have to speak to the owner. I left a number, and was told they'd call the next morning. When they hadn't called by noon, I tried again, only to be told that the owner wouldn't be in until after 3:00. I wasn't comfortable leaving things until the last minute, so I chose to use another florist, Floral Connection, where they were extremely helpful and even excited about what I wanted to do. My total budget was $250, which I realize may not be much in the floral world, but I wouldn't think many small businesses would turn their nose up at it. That's fine, though. I'd prefer to use a shop where my business is actually valued.
